What I would like to see Borland do with Delphi

I have wondered for several months now if I should make a post like this or not. I decided that I might as well, even though it might just cause havoc with the trolls in the newsgroups.

I would like to see the Borland do the following with Delphi:

  1. Reduce bugs (both in IDE and Libraries) on Initial Release
  2. Increase Performance (both in IDE and Libraries) on Initial Release
  3. Tools to help me to development my applications faster.
  4. Tools to help me to build and deploy my applications in a fast and consistent manner (aka FinalBuilder, NAnt)
  5. Tools to help me develop higher quality and better performing applications.
  6. Keep the new technology implementation delay small

    • The gap from the time .NET update is released to Product that supports it.
    • The gap from the time Vista is released to Product that supports it.
    • Produce Preview version of Compilers and Libraries

      • During Microsoft Beta Cycles targeting the Beta OS and Framework
      • As technology is at a state to be previewed

  7. Produce a BDS Road Map detailing the following (Ask for the world and be happy if you get even part of it)

    • .NET Side

      • Avalon Support
      • Longhorn/Vista Support
      • .NET 2.0 Support
      • .NET 3.0 Support
      • BDP Progression
      • ECO Future Features
      • ASP.NET Plans
      • VB.NET Designer Support

    • Delphi Side

      • Major Language Changes
      • Kylix??
      • Win32 plans
      • Win64 Support

    • IDE / Development Tools

      • Major IDE Features (Built in Support for NANT, NCover,  etc)
      • Starteam, Together, CaliberRM, etc… Integration Plans.
      • Any Other Languages Planned to be supported by IDE?

    • C++ Side

      • .NET Support Planned?
      • Win64?
      • Standards Compliance

From comments in the 24 hours of Delphi and the News groups, I believe that Borland is already working on: 1, 2 and 3.

I also heard that a Road map has been produced, but it does your users no good unless you publish it!

Yes, I also know there are 3rd party applications for what I want.   I however have clients that rarely purchase 3rd party tools and components.   Having them come directly from Borland would help getting them these applications.
